The Arctic Husky Safari, Finland
This adventurous husky safari includes five superb days of dog-sledding, covering about 30 km to 40 km each day, each person driving their own team of huskies. This safari takes place high within the Arctic Circle in the far north of Finland.
This is a wild and beautiful region where the forests end and the tundra begins. We start our safaris at the northern reaches of spruce forest and as we loop north we leave the pines behind, entering a region where only a few stunted birch trees grow.
Accommodation on safari is in simple hostel-style, log cabins, usually with bunks in the central room. If you want a higher level of comfort and privacy, you should consider the Frontier Safari.
On the 8 day Arctic Safari, the first night and the last two nights are spent in twin-rooms in a comfortable, family-run hotel in Hetta and there is a free day to explore the area and to enjoy optional activities, such as snowmobiling.
The 5 day Arctic Safari is the dogsledding section of the 8 day safari, designed for people making their own way to Hetta or to be combined with other adventures in the area.
